Danish Energy Companies - Net
is the industry association for the Danish electricity distribution companies, i.e. the companies in charge of establishing, operating and maintaining the electricity grids supplying the individual consumers and the regional electricity transmission companies in Denmark, which are responsible for distributing electricity to the local grid companies.Danish Energy Companies - Net has 68 members, often referred to as grid companies. In addition, Danish Energy Companies - Net represents the "PSO companies" (public service obligation), which must provide electricity to customers who do not wish to take advantage of free choice in the market.
Danish Energy Companies - Net represents the interests of the distribution and transmission companies vis-à-vis authorities, other organisations and society in general.
Danish Energy Companies - Net speaks for the distribution and transmission companies on common issues, both in relation to the public and in relation to e.g. preparation of legislation and other public regulation of its member companies.In addition, a number of joint tasks of the distribution and transmission companies are planned and coordinated through Danish Energy Companies - Net. The Committee of Representatives comprising two persons from each member company is Danish Energy Companies - Net supreme body. The Committee of Representatives meets once a year and elects:A Board of Directors with 14 members, which is responsible for overall management of the association.A Management Committee with 14 members, elected by and from among the executive managements of the member companies. The main function of the Management Committee is to provide advisory services to the Board and the CEO of the association.Professional committees provide advice in relation to professional and political issues within their respective areas and report to the Management Committee.
Danish Energy Companies - Net has four professional committees: the Transmission Committee, the Pricing Committee, the Energy Consumption Committee and the Technology Committee.
The CEO and the secretariat handle day-to-day affairs and prepare issues for discussion on the Committee of Representatives, the Board of Directors, the Management Committee and the professional committees.
Danish Energy Companies - Net shares a secretariat with the Association of Danish Energy Companies, which is the umbrella organisation for the Danish energy sector. Danish Energy Companies - Net is the largest member grouping under the Association of Danish Energy Companies, whose members also include electricity generating and trading companies. The secretariat serves all member groupings under the Association of Danish Energy Companies and handles information and campaign activities, courses, statistics and newsletter publications.
